Keller Auditorium, here I come.

I'm stoked.. I just accepted a supernumerary role in the first opera of the 2010/2011 season with Portland Opera. I'm playing a Groom. I have no idea about the show but I'm looking forward to finally working with Chris Mattaliano as the Stage Director. As I've written in the past, I've worked with Mr. Mattaliano as his note-taker. I also got an invite to be in Hansel & Gretel in mid-Fall. The photos I've seen of this production look awesome.. something reminds me of that Tom Petty video for "Don't Come Around Here No More".

I was considering taking a hiatus this season to pursue other things and let things "soak" for awhile. I've officially told Jess at PICA that I won't get to reprise my role as House Manager this year :( .. kind of sad but it'll be fun to be in show again.

In the meantime, I'm looking forward to having my aunt Sharon, cousin Laura and her two daughters in town for a few days. I'll be putting on my tour guide hat and showing them the sites. We'll probably take a spin out to the Gorge, maybe go for a hike. We're also going to the Museum one day.

I'm having the carpets downstairs cleaned for the occasion. therefore I had to disassemble my home recording studio.. I'm hopeful that when I put it back together again, I'll get it setup so I can start recording (finally!). I've been spec'ing out a new Mac Mini.. possibly with solid state drive so it's nice and quiet for live recording.. of course, I still have the freeway (Hwy 26) nearby and the power lines on skyline have a tendency to add some "noise" to the signal.

I spent all day Saturday powerwashing the driveway and entryway. I have to say, at first it was a pain in the ass. however, once I started to see how well it was doing to remove the muck and mildew it became kind of fun. It was like having a giant "eraser". Awe'mazing....

sidenote: I got a job offer from Weiden + Kennedy.. it's nice to be sought after.. feels like I might have some bargaining power. I'd be interested in seeing what their "shop" looks like and the platforms they support. Since I'm pretty comfy here, I would be able to negotiate for better benefits, higher salary, private parking space :) .. a new Mac laptop.. .hehe.. first things first...
